Some of these may seem very obvious and might have already been included in the internship job description, while others may have been answered during the course of the interview. Towards the end of the interview you will likely have the opportunity to ask questions of the interviewer, so you want to be prepared with a few prior to the interview!

Here are questions you can ask in your sports industry interview:

  • What skills do you see in the ideal candidate for this internship?
  • What achievements would make this a successful internship in your eyes?
  • Has the organization ever hired a former intern for a part-time or full-time job?
  • What are the primary goals of the department this season/year?
  • Who will be my boss during this internship?
  • What other individuals might I work with during this internship?
  • Will I be interacting directly with fans during this internship?
  • Will I receive feedback throughout the internship and if so, from whom?
  • Will I have the opportunity to ask questions throughout the internship in order to receive feedback?
  • What is the dress code for the internship?

We hope this list helps you to get your thinking cap on for your own interview. Think about questions that are specific to the team or organization you are applying with and also consider elements from the job description that you may be able to ask further questions about. Taking that initiative will show that you are taking the opportunity seriously, setting you up to stand out from the other candidates!
