Your Guide to Nike Internships: What Students Need to Know
Internships at Nike mean doing far more than spending a summer around sneakers and sportswear. Nike interns work on real projects across marketing, design, technology, finance, supply chain, product creation and other areas that help move one of the biggest brands in sports forward.
Nike’s Summer 2027 internships are beginning to appear now. This guide breaks down where Nike hires interns, who is eligible, when to apply, what the program includes and how to give yourself a better chance of standing out.
📍 Where Nike Offers Internships
Nike’s largest U.S. internship program is based at the company’s Philip H. Knight Campus in Beaverton, Oregon, just outside Portland. Most U.S. corporate interns work there in person.
Nike also offers select internships in other locations, including:
- Memphis, Tennessee – primarily supporting Nike’s North America distribution operations
- Boston, Massachusetts – Converse internships at Converse headquarters (Nike owns Converse!)
- Hilversum, Netherlands – Nike’s European headquarters
- Laakdal, Belgium – Nike’s European Logistics Center
- Bengaluru, India – Nike’s India Technology Center
- Paris and other locations in France – apprenticeship opportunities
Available locations and departments change from one recruiting cycle to the next, so students should search broadly rather than assuming every Nike internship will be based in Oregon.
🇺🇸 Nike’s U.S. Summer Internship Program
Length: 10 weeks
Work format: In person. Most corporate roles are based at Nike’s world headquarters in Beaverton, with select positions in locations such as Memphis.
Compensation: Paid, with relocation assistance and housing in certain areas. Nike says compensation is competitive, but the exact amount may vary by role and location.
Eligibility: Nike internships are for students currently enrolled in a college, university or equivalent-level program. Every posting identifies its own eligible degree program, field of study and graduation window.
For many Summer 2027 undergraduate internships currently posted, Nike is seeking students graduating between December 2027 and Spring 2028. Graduate internships may require enrollment in an MBA or another specified master’s program, with the expected graduation window varying by role.
That distinction matters: do not assume that every opening is available to every student.
Nike separates many opportunities into undergraduate and graduate tracks.
What Kinds of Internships Does Nike Offer?
Nike’s internship teams can include:
- Marketing
- Design and technical design
- Merchandising
- Product creation and development
- Finance and accounting
- Strategy
- Supply chain and operations
- Engineering
- Data, artificial intelligence and machine learning
- Software and technology
- Human resources
- Manufacturing
The range is much wider than traditional “sports management” roles. A student studying computer science, engineering, analytics, apparel design, finance or logistics may be just as relevant to Nike as someone studying marketing or sport business.
Examples from the Summer 2027 recruiting cycle include undergraduate internships in apparel technical design, apparel materials, AI/data/machine learning engineering, software engineering, Air Manufacturing Innovation engineering and distribution-center operations. Nike has also posted graduate internships in finance, strategic planning, product supply chain and its Marketing Vanguard Program.
📅 When Should You Apply?
Nike says U.S. summer internships are typically posted between September and January. Positions fill quickly, and different teams may post at different times during that window.
For international programs, Nike lists the following general timelines:
| Program | Typical Timing |
|---|---|
| U.S. summer internships | Posted September–January |
| India Technology Center | Program runs January–June; apply by September |
| European HQ and Logistics Center | Internships begin in February; apply by late September |
| France apprenticeships | Begin in late summer and last at least one year; apply by March |
The big takeaway: Nike recruiting is not a one-day drop. Begin checking in September, apply when a strong match appears and continue watching for additional teams to post roles throughout the fall.
📂 How to Apply
Nike internships are posted through the Nike Careers site, where applicants submit their materials directly for each position. New opportunities also appear on The Sports Intern Job Board once they become available, making it easy to find Nike openings alongside internships from across the sports industry.
At minimum, expect to submit a resume in the preferred PDF format. Some positions also require or strongly prefer a cover letter, while design-focused roles may require a portfolio. Read each posting closely as the application materials are not identical across every department.
For example, Nike’s Summer 2027 apparel technical design internship requires candidates to present a relevant portfolio. Its graduate product supply chain internship requires both a résumé and cover letter uploaded as one combined PDF. Other undergraduate roles may request only a résumé.
Nike allows students to apply for more than one internship when multiple positions fit their experience. In some regions, candidates may be encouraged to choose one role per location, and recruiters can consider strong applicants across multiple teams.
🎤 What Is the Hiring Process Like?
Nike outlines three basic stages:
- Apply: Choose a role that fits your skills, education and interests and submit the requested materials.
- Recruiter contact or assessment: If selected for a corporate role, a recruiter may contact you for a phone screen or virtual assessment.
- Interview: Candidates who advance meet with members of the hiring team before final selections are made.
Interview details can vary by role. Be ready to explain why the specific team interests you, how your past work connects to the job description and what you could contribute beyond being a fan of the brand.
👟 What Do Nike Interns Actually Do?
Nike describes its internships as real work rather than side projects. Interns contribute to business priorities and may take ownership of a defined project with guidance from managers and senior leaders.
The work depends heavily on the team.
A supply chain intern might analyze data and recommend operational improvements.
A technical design intern could assist with product specifications, prototypes, fit and construction.
A marketing graduate intern may research sport and cultural trends or help develop a seasonal brand plan.
The broader program may also include:
- Speaker sessions with Nike leaders and athletes
- Skill-building workshops and professional development
- Mentorship and exposure to senior leaders
- Social and community events
- Access to campus fitness facilities
- Product discounts and other employee perks
An internship can create a path toward a future role at Nike, but a full-time offer is not guaranteed.
🌍 Can International Students Apply?
Nike says international students may apply and that qualifications are reviewed case by case. That does not guarantee sponsorship or work authorization for a particular role, so students should review the individual posting and be prepared to answer application questions about their authorization to work in that country.
Students interested in Nike outside the United States should also pay close attention to local enrollment requirements and recruiting calendars, which can differ substantially from the U.S. summer program.
💡 How to Stand Out
Apply to the function, not only the logo. “I have always loved Nike” is not enough. Show why you fit product development, consumer insights, finance, technology or whichever team is actually hiring.
Use the job description as your roadmap. If a posting repeatedly mentions data storytelling, cross-functional collaboration or project ownership, your résumé should include evidence that you have done those things.
Show your connection to the consumer. Nike looks for applicants who understand athletes, products and culture. Demonstrate how you notice consumer behavior, solve problems or turn an insight into action.
Quantify your impact. Replace vague claims such as “helped with social media” with specifics: how much content you created, how engagement changed or how many people your work reached.
Do not ignore the technical roles. Nike is a sports company, but it is also a global product, retail, logistics and technology operation. Students often overlook relevant openings because the title does not include “sports.”
Prepare your portfolio early if your field requires one. Design openings can move quickly. Waiting until a role is posted to assemble every project, caption and case study puts you behind.
Make your cover letter specific. When one is requested, explain why that team and project area make sense for you. Avoid spending the entire letter describing what Nike would do for your career.
